Every Child Has A Story
Every child on this page is facing kidney disease. Some have already received treatment. Others are still waiting. Every donation helps provide another child with the medical care they need.
Thousands of children in the Philippines live with kidney disease, but many families cannot afford the treatment that could save their lives.
Jaleigha -
A Second Chance
In June 2025, Jaleigha arrived at Dr. Monica Cabral's clinic with severe swelling and acute kidney failure. She could barely stand. Jaleigha was diagnosed with Primary Nephrotic Syndrome, one of the most common kidney disorders affecting young children. After days waiting for a hospital bed, she received life-saving treatment, including specialized testing and medication after standard therapy failed.
Three weeks later, she was healthy enough to return home. Today, she is a happy three-year-old who continues monthly care and is thriving.
Your generosity made this possible. A gift of approximately $5,000 covered the treatment that gave Jaleigha a second chance at childhood.
Lonia -
The Gift of Hope
At 13 years old, Lonia developed severe swelling in her face and ankles caused by lupus nephritis, a serious kidney disease. As her kidneys continued to fail, she began peritoneal dialysis at home every six hours while battling repeated hospitalizations for infections and breathing complications.
After more than a year of dialysis, Lonia received a life-saving kidney transplant from her mother on March 16, 2026. Today, she continues to recover under the care of her pediatric kidney specialists and has been given a renewed chance at a healthy future.
Your generosity can make stories like Lonia's possible. Her life-saving treatment—including dialysis, hospitalizations, transplant surgery, and follow-up care—cost approximately $75,000 USD.
Jhonell -
Strength Through
Every Challenge
At 18 years old, Jhonell was diagnosed with Takayasu arteritis, a rare disease that narrowed the arteries supplying blood to his kidneys. The reduced blood flow caused dangerously high blood pressure that could not be controlled with medication or steroids.
To restore circulation and protect his kidneys, doctors recommended placing two specialized stents in his renal arteries. These life-changing devices offered hope for lowering his blood pressure and preventing further damage.
Your generosity makes treatments like this possible. The two renal stents alone cost approximately $4,000 USD, giving Jhonell the chance for a healthier future.
Nick -
A Life-Changing Procedure
At 18 years old, Nick has spent years living with chronic kidney disease. He was also diagnosed with May-Thurner syndrome, a rare condition in which an artery compresses a major vein, severely restricting blood flow from his leg. The blockage caused painful swelling and placed him at risk for a life-threatening blood clot.
Doctors recommended placing a specialized stent to restore normal blood flow and prevent further complications. With successful treatment, relief can be almost immediate, giving Nick the opportunity to live a healthier and more active life.
Your generosity can help make this possible. The cost of the stent procedure is estimated to be between $5,000 and $8,000 USD, providing a life-saving treatment and renewed hope for Nick's future.
Sayad -
Every Day Matters
At 16 years old, Sayad was living with only one functioning kidney. When the drainage from that kidney became blocked, she needed surgery and the placement of a ureteral stent to restore the flow of urine and protect her remaining kidney.
The procedure was successful, and the surgery and stent—costing approximately $3,000 USD—gave Sayad the opportunity to continue treatment. Tragically, we lost track of her and later heard she passed.
Sayad's story is a reminder that access to treatment is only one part of the journey. Ongoing medical care, follow-up, and family support are essential to giving children with kidney disease the best chance at life.
Every child has a story.
Your donation helps make treatment possible.
